Default Horn upgrade

Here's my horn upgrade. It's a Wolo Road Warrior DD. Biggest problem that I faced is that this thing is BIG. The horn is 22" long and 6" in diameter on each end. This is a direct drive horn that runs off a small air pump. No air tank involved.

I had my doubts about buying a Wolo product. They always seemed like junk to me. I've been pleasantly surprised. The horn is a heavy all metal part and the fasteners are stainless.

I cut a corner off of the base of the horn mount and bolted it to the AEM air box. The lower mount is bolted to the frame with the use of a spacer bracket. The pump is mounted inside the air box.

I didn't use the relay that came with it. I just lengthened the leads from the stock horn and changed the horn fuse (fuse #23) to 25 amps.

It's loud. Not hornblasters loud, but it will definitely let people know that you're there.

This is not what I would call a pretty install, but it gets the job done.

Being long does it sound like a fire engine? A sound clip would be nice!

it shouldn t sound like a fire engine. the way a air horn works is it at the back it has a diaphram and the vibrates. on a decent truck air horn there is a allen screw in the back and you can turn it in and out to put more a less pressure on the diaphram to make it more or less pitch. either way it is loud. a fire engine air horn has a special diaphram to give it that raspy sound instead a smooth sound like a big rig.

and actually illegal to have a fire engine air horn as well.

This clip from Wolo. http://www.wolo-mfg.com/845-stereo.wav I think it sounds like a semi horn. Definitely not as cool as a multi-chime train horn.

I'm in So Ca. I can only dream of finding mud deep enough to clog that thing up. I would imagine it's water proof. It's designed to be mounted on top of a truck cab. So, I guess I could wash it out.

I can't imagine that this horn is legal to use on the road http://www.wolo-mfg.com/846-stereo.wav

Looks good! Nothing better than having a nice LOUD horn in SoCal. My first mod was a new horn.

I've only once heard a double train horn on an 18 wheeler parked inside my inlaws garage....let me tell you that loud is an understatement... I literaly felt my spine tremble...

As for Ontario, the mud we have would just plug a setup like that,
