The factory way of turning the system off is not as completely off as is adding the switch.

Here is the chart showing the various modes:

I did it on my 2012 jk and I have trail grapplers.... Let's just say its a lot of fun in the rain.

I have the duratracs and yea, in the rain, they are basically bald slicks covered in oil...

Ok, so it just interrupts the power to the sensor - good call. that should be fairly 'ok' for the computer. I wanted to make sure we were not cutting data lines.

Almost 1 year and 8 thousand miles later I have not had a single issue with doing this. I was a bit leery at first cutting wires on a brand new $35K rig, but I did it anyway... glad I did. I would bet over 95% of the time/miles I have been using the ESP system. But when I want it off for some fun, I just flick the switch.

I prefer the system on when I am driving on the road, and off when I am off road.
