Default Installing a Dodge Nitro Amplifier in a JK

WHY CHANGE IT?

The Stock amplifier hinders speaker performance due to distorsion from cheap speakers. The amplifier clips the power to the rear channels decreasing sound but keeping distorsion at a minimum.

WHAT IS MODIFIED?

The Jeep JK Infinity amp is under the steering wheel and has ducting from the AC to cool the amplifier making it small and efficent and away from water! Running an aftermarket amp takes up space and requires lots more wiring. The new Dodge Nitro amp uses the same harnesses, the same wiring, and is programmed for more power. This is great for high end speakers and allows the user to use the soundbar to full power; whereas, the JK amp kills the soundbar performance.

WHERE DO I GET ONE?
moparpartsamerica.com has them. Mine was backordered for 2 weeks but came shipped at 2 day FEDEX. Price 136.85 +Shipping

HOW DO I INSTALL IT?
10 MM Socket and ratchet
Torx 15 Bit and Driver

Pull the two panels from the bottom of the dash at the steering wheel. They pop right out. Then remove the 3 bolts with the 10 MM. Disconnect wire harness and pull amp up and out. Unbolt brackets and switch them out using the Torx bit. Then reinstall the amp, install the harness, and retighten bolts. Then just put the panels back in place and enjoy. This should take about 5 minutes tops!

Some comparison shots. JK amp (top) and Dodge Nitro amp (bottom).

Great mod but I was wondering if the wiring is there even if you don't have the Infinity system?

It sounds much fuller now. The sound has leveled out. I have noticed though that the distorsion is there at very high volumes that was not there before. However the speakers in the soundbar are JUNK! I removed them and checked them out. They shoud be the first to be replaced. The fronts sound great! Sub too!

The harnesses are not there to my knowledge.
