I tied 2 strips in under each ledge on the middle panel and tied a transistor in to keep them on low glowing light. I ran the power tap into my hot wire for the power window switch light. I used blue LED on mine and it looks good.....had to try several transistors to get it right.
My pic is not very good but it looks great at night.

QUOTE=chucktuna;437780]Great Mod!

Question,
Are those LED's that bright that they need a switch?
I'm gonna do something similar but I'd rather they just come on with the headlights, so that the console are has a nice glow....
The wife's Honda CRV has one mounted up high, and keeps the area between the seats from becoming a black hole.....any thoughts?

I'm an idiot when it comes to electronics, but I would love to do this mod, or one like it.
1. how do you take the center dash/consol out
2. which wires would you tie into to make the LEDs come on with the headlights
and
3. could you add a dimmer (rheostat type thing)

Thanks,

there was a thread on this a while back. I can't find it now, but what they did was tap into the lights on the AC dials, so that the new LED's would not turn on until the headlights did. that also enables them to dim as you dim your dash lights.

That's on my to do list as well. I like the look of the blue lights as it goes well with MyGig.

Default Hello!!!!!

HELLO!!!!! If you read the post of mine just above yours you'll have your answer. Just as the other thread states....just tap into the hot wire for the instrument panel(they used hvac) but I found it easier to use the power window swith light wire. Pick up some small transistors and try them to obtain your desired light depth then solder it in. I have the LED strips but the LED buttons look great too. Looks awesome when done right. I have an Infiniti G35 and it has 2 tiny LED's in the sunroof panel cluster that glow down over the shifter. This was my guide and plan.
Have fun.

First take the top ledge off. You have to pry from the sides upward at the back of it (where it meets the windshield). Once you pull the back up it will slide forward and reveal the bolts on the top of the center panel. Take those bolts out and the panel will snap out. Careful not to loose those clips. From there it's very easy.
Hope that helps.
