Default Jeep won't start - clicking sounds, but won't turn over

Hi all,

My 2012 Jeep has 55k miles on it. Currently when I try to start it up, I just get a clicking noise. I've tried jumping it with no luck. I took the battery to be tested and it checked out just fine. I then had them charge the battery. They tested it once more after charging & said it was fine. After putting the battery back in the Jeep, it still just clicks, and still won't turn over even with a jump start.

I realized even after the battery having been charged, the dome lights are a little dim when I open the door.

I did manage to get it started with a jump twice, going to work yesterday (and returning home). I noticed on the way home that my headlights were flickering a tiny bit.

Any ideas on something to try?

Any help is appreciated.

Did you find anything yet? I would agree with checking the cables. The battery starts the Jeep but after that it does nothing. The fact that the lights flicker during driving points to the alternator. Check the ground for those two and the main body ground.

I had an 08..randomly gave me the same problem...it was the infamous jeep flu

With ours, the wife would sometimes do something as simple as pull the key, step on the brakes, and try again.

Heard different theories, like static electricity building up, a tsb on the key chip not being recognized at times, or a solution was to get out pull the IOD fuse for 3o seconds and replace it.

The final solution...traded it in.

I have 08, I thought battery was bad, but it was not , I have automatic and the gear shift just needed to be bumped into Park. There us a part that goes bad, but with a thump in the shifter all is well

The Stock Battery in the 2012's stink. They go without warning, your symptoms sound like a bad battery like most others have said here, look for a coupon online for advanced auto, get an AGM with that coupon. I found one for $50 off.

M 2012 decided to die last nite as well with 16,xxx miles on it, its a manual, i was on the drive thru line and had the AC on and it stalled out, i went to start it back up and NOTHING, if i put the key in its fine all the lights come on, cluster lights, dome lights, stereo, headlights but it just wont start. I can hear a single click when i turn the key to on but nothing almost like the starter is getting power but it wont turn over???. we even tried two rolling starts but it didn't work. I just had it towed the dealership last nite. Ill just wait and see what kind of BS they'll come up with this time.

BTW. within 2 years i've had:

* lifters replaced both sides
* Heads replaced one side ( after the lifter "fix")
* COMPLETE engine swap ( got a new 2013 engine )
* Weird transmission noises ( no fix )
* Squeaky seats ( no fix )
* DEAD Jeep...lol
