Default mirror mounts

Sorry to start another mirror thread.

Here is my take on mirrors when I remove my doors.

Materials

- 3' of 1.25"'.25" thick flat stock steel. Can be bought at TSC
- 4 knobs with M8x1.25 threads.( Mcmaster-carr)
- 4 SS studs M8x1.25 X 40mm long (Mcmaster)
- 4 SS nuts M8x1.25 (mcmaster)
- 4 SS flat washers M8 (Mcmaster)
- 2 mirrors (auto store)
-Shop supplies ..Welder, paint, locktite, ect...

Locktite (red) the stainless steel nut about 15mm from the end of the stud

Remove 2 torx screws from each windsheild bracket, see pic.
Once the red locktite is dry on the stud , install the stud with the 15mm long side out.
Remember to put a washer under the nut.

Knobs installed.

I made these over a year ago, so I don't have pics of the mirror bracket fab.
I think you will get the Idea from the pictures of the finished product.

Notice how the SS nuts keep the brackets from touching the paint

Wow, no comments. Does everyone think it is a ugly setup
I like how the knobs hold the mirror brackets ridgid. No vibration or shaking of the mirrors at any speed. It seems like I have heard a lot of complants about this with some aftermarket setups.
The knobs on the Jeep all the time don't bother me.

It's not bad. Nice job on doing it yourself. Wonder how it would look it you painted it black?

They are black. For some reason the pictures look almost red

Edit: look at the last pic, it looks more black.

It may not be pretty but it isn't ugly, simple and effective. Nice work.
