Mirror Relocation Brackets (Rugged Ridge)
Well, it's not the coolest mod for the first one on a new JK but it helps when the doors are off! This small writeup is for the relocation brackets made by Rugged Ridge part#11025.04
I went with the black ones instead of chrome. Thought it would look good on the Rescue Green.
Tools Required
=3/8 ratchet (1/4 Inch works better for new bracket)
=Torx Bit #40
=30-45 minutes
OK, well I was going to include DETAILED pics with the instructions, but the factory instructions that come with the kit are pretty good. Here are some helpful tips to make the use of your time more productive!
1. Since the brackets are going to be in contact with your body, ensure you clean the area thoroughly first. If you have your doors off during installation, REPLACE them. You will not get the mirrors out of the old bracket if your doors are off.
2. Your mirrors will NOT come off easily and be careful when you are pulling them off, ensure you go straight up as any side to side force can damage or break the mirror. They're only plastic housings after all. Turning the mirror left/right will help you though.
3. If you have a 2008+ JK, you will require the plastic sleeves included with the kit to keep the mirrors snug in the new bracket. These should also be lined up with the opening on the shim and the groove on the mirror. There is a long tab on the inside of the new Rugged Ridge brackets that will line everything up!
4. If you happen to push the sleeve too far up into the mirror housing when you are sliding the housing into the bracket. (as I found out) You will just have to take the mirror out of the housing by removing the 3x #15 Torx screws that hold it in place.
5. Do not over tighten the new bracket once you have the mirrors slid into place. The soft aluminum sleeve that holds the screw in WILL strip very easily if you are not careful.
6. Because the new bracket installs on the bottom two spots for your windshield retainer, one of the Torx head screws is under the slotted area on the bottom of the bracket and is easier to get to with smaller drive ratchet, though a smaller round head 3/8 drive will work.

SIDE VIEW WITH A CLOSE LOOK AT FILLER PLATE LOCATION
HOW MUCH CLEARANCE YOU HAVE WITH DOOR OPEN FULLY
Conclusion
Overall I am happy with the product and it's look. Another nice thing about it, is both the bracket and the filler plate are already pre-padded and will form a nice seal to keep out the water and mud. I am not crazy about the pivoting lock feature with these brackets as you have to adjust them and then tighten the bottom retaining screw hold the mirror on the bracket, and as mentioned above, you can easily strip the threads if you are not careful, but it has to be fairly tight in order for the mirror to turn and 'lock' easily. You will end up losing %75-85% of view with your passenger mirror with the doors on. You'll get used to checking your blind spot if you are on the highway.
7/10
+nice design, will not hold water
+easy to install
+chrome or black finish available
-pricier than some other solutins
-could have a larger 'tab' to slide the mirrors in place like the OEM bracket does

Good write-up. Lots of people on here have had questions with this kit. Mine went on smoothly, and it was well worth the $50 or whatever it was. I previously rigged some bicycle mirrors and had to back out one of the windshield bolts each time I took off the doors!
Me and a friend are working on creating an adjustable passenger side mirror relocation bracket because when the door is on the view is very limited through the passenger side mirror.
We are doing testing using the Ford F150 manual and auto adjustable mirror and also fabricating a mirror relocation bracket using piping.
The plan was to cut the bracket off connection the mirror to the mounting plate and replace it with two pipes that will be able to slide into each other manually and pull out so that the view better.
We are still in the AutoCAD portion so if anyone has any suggestions....please offer them
SORRY I DO NOT MEAN TO HIJACK THIS WRITE UP! Please PM if you have any ideas or thoughts.........MAYBE we can suggest it to one of the big fabricating companies
