Several years ago I purchased Durabac (sp?) from 4wd.com. It came in a small paint can I believe. I used it strategically on my YJ to protect the thin door sills and the lip on the tailgate. It worked great and wasn't that difficult to apply.

I have the plastic Mopar entry guards and love the looks of them. I found out on the weekend that the door rubbers do not seal tight at the bottom anymore. The floor in my 2dr got flooded after going through some deep water.

That sucks. I guess I won't be taking mine in the drink now.

Did you take it through water BEFORE the sill guards were on? Maybe the doors were never sealed properly.

I installed a complete set of stainless steel Mopar door entry guards (4) on my Unlimited. They look awesome with the Jeep logos and do not show. I had a set of black metal ones on my 1995 YJ Sport and they protected well.

I had been through deep water before, but never stopped (stuck for 5 mins before being pulled out)

Default The doors may not seal well in the first place

I picked up mine from the dealer yesterday and drove 250 miles home in the rain. The dried-mud spray pattern along the sides is also inside the doors, right where the sill guards would go. The console light wasn't telling me they were open, so I've got to assume there was leakage. I have noticed that w/the hard top on, you gotta slam the doors pretty hard.
I'll test it this weekend w/the hose.
