My $6.99 set of matching interior door sill protectors
So I was walking around in Northern Tool today when I saw a product that reminded me our jeep's interior. The item was a rubber saftey step with a diamond plate pattern with an adhesive backing that can be used for a bunch of odd uses. Here is what I am talking about:
I immediately thought of a use and at $6.99 who cared if it didn't work. I came home and to my surprise these steps were the perfect length for a door sill protector. Additionally it matched the pattern on my door, the running boards, and my Quadratec floor mats.
I measured the width of the sill and came up with 1-3/8" and I figured I could get both doors with one piece of this step material at that width. I measured, cut the stuff with regular scissors and I broke out some achohol to wipe down the sill to get ready to stick it on. Well not even 15-20 minutes later I have me some matching, and functional becuase they provide grip when getting in and out, door sill protectors.
Here are some pics of the finished product:

installed
I ended up taking the last piece I had and cut it in half and used them for the rear doors which are much smaller. So with one piece of this stuff I was able to do all 4 doors.
From what I found on line so far they sell this stuff at Home Depot as well. It is called Keeper Safety step
Enjoy
I was asked if it interfered with the door closing or the weather seal and the answer is no it clears perfectly and the door seal is just above it so no problems.

How funny, I was at Harbor Freight yesterday and saw this stuff and thought about doing the same thing. They had it is 12" x 12" pieces too and I was trying to think of a use for that too.
