Default My rear mat solution.

O.K. I had this idea last week at work and got it done tonight. I looked around the back of the front seats for a place to put these and BAM, there's a hole already there ... easy enough.

You can make 4 of these but I only made 2 and put them here.

Then I started looking in the garage for some metal and found these old door hinges, another hole ... easy so far.

Ooops, hit the wrong button. gotta start another one.

These are the hinges I found and cut.

Then I bent the metal in a vice. bend alittle, check the fit, bend some more, check fit. It should be bent alittle more than the seat bracket so when you bolt it down it will pinch the mat.
[IMG][/IMG]

Found some bolts, nuts and washers that fit.
[IMG][/IMG]

Then bolt it on, this is the hardest part ... not much room to work.
front seat all the way up.

This is with the front seat all the wat back. When I paint it black nobody will see it.

I hit all the cut edges with a grinding wheel so there are no sharp points then hit it on a wire wheel to clean up the rest and get ready for paint.
Any other ideas before they get painted?

Sorry the pics came out alittle bigger than I thought.

Good idea. The only thing i can think of is maybe put some kind of knob or hook on them so that you dont need to peel off a fingernail to flex them up for removal. I dunno, like a small plastic cabinet knob, or a coathook or something along that line.

Good thinking, I already have an extra hole to put one too.
Thanks.

That's a great idea, but why bother doing anything to hold the front or rear slush mats down? Even with the doors off and top down, unless you are driving 100MPH in a Hurricane, the slush mats aren't going to fly out.

Others have said their rear mat starts to lift on the highway and could go flying out. I didn't want to risk loosing about $40 worth of rubber, I lost 2 hats already from strong cross winds so I gotta keep a spare under the back seats ... LOL.
Better safe than sorry I always say ... I also say "If it's free, take 3 or 9 of them", but that doesn't have anything to do with floor mats

I took out my carpet and actually just tried to buy some heavy duty velcro... but noting will stick to the rubber  So i think this is an awesome idea.. let us know how it works out...
