MyGig Cover
Had someone ask me how I made my MyGig cover so I figured I'd do a quick write up in it.
I'm doing this on my phone so forgive me.
1. Took measurement and made a positive out of molding clay. I printed the Jeep logo off in several sizes and picked the one I liked best.
2. Used a piece of foam board and made a surround so I could make the mould. Make sure to line the edges with clay so it doesn't leak.
3. Pour your choice of mould material and once it hardens flip the mould over and carve the inside of the cover out. This allows the cover to not hit the nob.
4. Pour the second half of your mould.
5. After both side are dry separate them and remove all the clay from the inside.
6. Use two pieces of the foam board and sandwich the two sides of your mould together.
7. Cut a two wholes in one end of you mould. One to pour into and a smaller one to let out air so you don't get bubbles in your mould.
8. I used hobby quick set plastic (lots of types) to make my positive.
9. I recommend putting you catalyst in the fridge to slow the cure time. The first time mine set up in the cup I was mixing it in. In this step you can choose to color the plastic but make sure you don't add too much due to not all of it setting up.
10. After using the dremel to fit everything as close as possible. I lined the edges with felt so it would scratch the dash and painted with bed liner.
11. I the glued two tabs to the back that just slide on top and bottom of the MyGig.
This doesn't protect that much it but at least makes it blend in a little to the dash from any sticky finger window shoppers. Good luck! I'll try to answer as many question as I can.
Now time for pics.

I honestly couldn't tell you how much I have in it at this point. I'm going to work on the fit of mine more. I'd like to get it closer to the dash. Once I do that I might feel up to making a master mould of the finished one but for now I don't have time.
x2, i'd buy one!
