New Hi-Lift Jack Base
Several members of our Chesapeake VA Southside Severe Weather Assistance Team just got our new Alien Base(s) from Hard Core Trail Gear, LLC. Greg, one of the company founders and designers of the Alien Base, dropped them off at our meeting last night and talked us through the development of the current model and it's capabilities. Every component is destructive tested to much greater than the 7000# limit of the jacks and it can be used all along the length of the jack's rail with the four feet extended to grip non-flat objects or folded to expose serrated teeth that can dig into a log for additional lift or stabbed into a vehicle's sheet metal to be used as an extrication device.
These things look "bullet-proof" and we anticipate real world use and continued testing.
Take a look for yourself!

can the legs stay locked in both the open and closed positions? They look good but if they keep on flapping open while driving that would be a pain to deal with / keep hearing...

They snap positively in either position. The MFR designed the base to allow the jack rail to move front and back ~10 degrees so it takes any for/aft movement of the vehicle during jacking when pinned in place so there may be some play there however the jack handle should also hold against the base when stored. This is a new design so we'll find out if the feet loosen over time. Instead of round holes that can trap sand or dirt which would eventually wear the foot mounting points, the MFR used square/rectangle holes so they are self-cleaning.
