I had taken it apart before I built this... I just didn't want the clips popping out. I ran my wires behind that piece so I have been into it a couple times. The clips really hold the molding up tight, I just wasn't sure about long term and stuff. I dunno. I do like them up there.

What model CB do you have? Where is your antenna?

Any ideas?
you really have two good options, the teraflex cb spare tire mount or the cool tech mount on the license plate frame. i went with the teraflex spare tire mount and i am really glad i did. my license plate has since been ripped off on the trail and been relocated to the spare. Others have come up with other creative ideas but those are the two off the shelf mounts that come to mind.

I have mounted mine with the one screw that is on the side of the console
right next to the transfer case shifter. I had to drill an extra hole in the mount bracket, but it is very secure, visible to the driver but not to curious eyes, and not in the way of your right leg.
I will add pics tomorrow.

When I had it mounted in my TJ I had it on the console by the transfer case shifter. I liked it in there. I just wanted a different setup in the JK. I would like to see yours though. I had a hard time visualizing really how it would look.

I have the Cobra 19. It is the smallest and most simple radio that they carry. I only plan on using the CB for trail rides, so I had no need for an expensive and fancy one.

As for the antenna mount I used this:

I don't remember paying $75 for that thing, seems too much for a bracket, but I am pretty sure you can fab up something close to that.

That's actually pretty sweet. Gives me ideas about storage in the back of the unlimited.

my friend makes these heavy duty cb antenna mounts:

I have had it on for 6 months now, and it is still perfect. It is a great solution that is tough as nails and hides the CB cable. It even works with the factory tire carrier.
