Rain Gear Cover
Been thinking about buying a trail cover for awhile now so I don't have to rush to throw the hardtop back on or try to rig up a tarp before those pop up rain storms. Bit the bullet last week and ordered a rain gear cover. Received it yesterday and my initial thoughts upon opening the box were great. Came in a bag and seemed very nicely made. The fit was nice, clips and straps are heavy duty and I really like the velcro design around the mirrors.

I crawled into the jeep and right away realized there were several pinholes in the cover. Was not happy about that at all. Getting this thing in yesterday was perfect because we had a storm come through last night (perfect chance to test it out). Went out this morning and had pooling to the front and back of the sound bar, I expected this. However, some of these pinholes happen to be where the pooling is. Not good:

This was a pretty steady drip, once every 2-3 seconds.

Now I realize that a lot of people will think this is not a big deal and its not a huge one for me personally but my girlfriend does not enjoy a wet ass
on top of that I spent 150 bucks for something that is suppose to be water proof and leaks out of the box.
I realize there are several simple solutions, one of which being a pole to raise the center to prevent the pooling and the second being sealing up those pin holes with any number of available products. I for one do not think that I should have to do this. I want to know if anybody else has experience with a similar product doing this or even a rain gear product. I'm wondering if this is a common thing or just a lapse in quality control and if I contact them for a replacement am I going to experience the same thing.

Get some Kiwi Campdry. You can find it at Walmart in the shoes or camping section.
Its used to waterproof shoes, jackets and tarps. I've used it many times on my gear with great results.

Thanks for the response but I realize there are products that can seal up these pin holes. I guess I'm more interested in experience from people with this same product or a similar product by a different company, mainly bestop, and if they have had the same problem. Maybe I'm being unreasonable to expect a 150 cover to be completely waterproof...
I have the Bestop trail cover and its been great. It too allows water to pool but no leaks. Mine has a small tear on the middle strap from over tightening or a large amount of water pooling for a long period. I'd recommend the Bestop cover.
I have the Rain Gear cover for my 2010 four door unlimited. I've been very happy with mine, no leaks that I have detected...water definitely pools on top, but has never leaked...it rains here constantly in south florida during
the summer, which is the only season i use it that much...i often run a bikini top, which helps a little with the amount of pooling, but the biggest thing that has helped is i made some "props" out of pvc pipe, there is a write up on the forum about this...not sure what to say about your pin holes...are they along the seems or throughout the fabric? I wonder if your hunch about quality control is right, maybe your's is faulty...keep us informed as to how to the vendor deals with it...

I picked up my Rain Gear cover in August and it saw its first rain this past week. It is leaking through pinholes at the stitching. It's only leaking in areas of the seam where the thread holes have pulled open so I wonder if it is an issue with the sewing machine or the operator. I'll have to go get some seam sealer, sit on the inside of the covered jeep and hit all the spots where I see light coming through the seam.

I would return it your foolish not to. You paid for something to work and it doesn't. Return it.
I cannot believe the first thing you didnt do is call them and explain the issue. I had a issue with mine and they quickly resolved the problem. Granted mine was not holes, but mine shipped without the bag. I called them and explained the issue and also told them the cover came in very dirty. They figured a return was shipped out so they would just send me a new cover and have me ship this one back. No big deal so I hung up, about 10 minutes later I recieved a phone call back and was told just to keep the cover and not send it back and I would still be getting a new one in the mail. Thats customer service there!!!
I have the Quadratec cover and it didn't have any holes but during a good storm it will pool up and "weep" thru the top. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing. Also mine is the drivable top in case i get stuck on the road without a top

, and send it back.
