It came out nice. Is there a reason you just didn't splice the longer cable from the add on mic to the end of the cable of the 2010 mic?

looks great I think I'm gonna do this mod today. I have the same mic (or so it looks) but I have it mounted right next to the radio. This has proven to be a crappy location (for me anyway) I think it pics up the AC/heat vent wind noise too much.

Thanks for all the thumbs ups guys. Been happy with it so far. I ended up not splicing the cable out of being lazy. I was going to go that route, then once I saw the internals were the same, I just decided to swap them out.

just some notes:
mounted the uconnect unit above the glove box, to the ac/heat duct, using the supplied double sided tape - makes it convenient to plug everything into it. actually ran the mic wire under the upper windshield trim as noted in the install, versus under dash, to protect the wire since it's so thin. used electical tape to hold it in place.

also used a lot of weather stripping around where the radio plugs are since there's a lot of sharp edges and places where rattles could occur.

since i absolutely destoyed the 2010 trim/mic on removal, i decided to cut the casing on the uconnect mic so the guts would just fall out without much effort.

sucked having to pay $90 to have the guys use a star can tool just to recognize uconnect, but nice being able to make handsfree calls!

I too have my mic on the left of the radio face and although I think I have good sound other folks tend to say different so I went to my cousin and he got me the 2010 panel with the mice built in, but first before I do this mod can you guys that have had the mic in the position prior tell me your feed back as to top off, bikini top so on and so forth of quality sound to the other person on the line please, also did you have the mic in another location before you settled on the A-pillar. I have moved my mic over to the A-pillar area but I havent had any good talk time in order to get any kind of feed back as to the clarity especially that I am now running my new Mopar Sun Bonnet ( which by the way its really awesome). Not that its hrd to remove at all but if its just for a cleaner mount and no better clarity for the other caller I'm not in a rush although I have it already to move it over, I also have the nitro amp upgrade and I have not swapped that out either cuz time ya know.

I just did the install of the microphone on the top of the A-pillar, and I can tell you other than a nice clean install no one sees a difference in the quality of the mic. It didn't get worst at all and it wasn't horrible to begin with either.

i had the top off and at 55 MPH still able to carry on a conversation - awesome!
