Default Soft top leak fix

My soft top leaked at the top of door over the door handle, I used silly puddy and made a gasket the worked like a charm, we had pouring rains this weekend and it did'nt leak a drop.

Default Nice!

Sounds like a good idea.. I gotta try it. I fixed mine with an electric tape on the passenger side, but it still leaks on the driver's side. I will definetly try this.

How did you mold the putty? Did you just stick it in? It looks like you put the weather strip over the putty, too?

Default Silly Puddy

I rolled it to about 1/8 diameter then flatened it out and layed it along the inside.

Damn that sucks the dealeship doesn't want to fix or you just don't want the hassle. I have a hard top now but want a soft top. Great suggestion on the repair though.

Need to do this as well - but as a heads up, I talked to the dealership and they said that it is a problem common with the X models, and that they would fix it but it would take a few days to do

lmao@ common to x models.

it is common to all JK's with soft tops, the header/top has no clue it is sitting on top of an X, Rubicon, or Sahara. This one needs to go in the "what dumb things has your dealer said" thread.

I gave up on them fixing mine nearly TWO YEARS ago.
I have an intermittant leak~ Stops when the sun cmes out. They swear it doeasnt leak, it does. I just deal with it.

I hope you have better luck.

Default My experience

I put some on the gascket. Then, hosed it really hard, it didn't fix it. Then, some of the putty was squeezed out when the door was shut. I would remove excess, which is easy to do anyway.

Yesterday, we had a pretty strong thunderstorm with hard rain and it didn't leak. I think it was about too, as I touched the gascket and the door frame and it was dump, but not drip.

I am curious it didn't leak as I was driving, but if it was parked, it would have leaked.

Anyway, I think I would try this and also use the electric tape to try to fix this next year. It's almost to put the hard top on..
