Default Tuffy Security Deck install

Just finished installing the Tuffy security deck in my Unlimited. Between the instructions at Project-JK and the manufacturers instructions things went pretty smoothly. I did have two minor issues that I commented on at Project-JK but figured it would be worth repeating here.

Here are a few pics along the way:

Before

Each side panel uses a well nut that is inserted into a hole in the body just below the roll bars. Then the panel is put in place and a bolt and washer screwed into the well nut. But the hole in the flange on the panel is quite large relative to the supplied washers and it’s easy for them to slip through the hole and not actually hold the panel in place. I swapped out for some larger diameter washers I had laying around and all was good. In the image below you can see the original washer and the larger one I used underneath it (it's so large it basically covers the entire flange). But it's what I had on hand ...

Oldest son actually doing most of the work under the supervision of his furry boss:

I don't have a subwoofer, so when we installed the right hand panel we had to deviate from the Project-JK writeup and stick with the manufacturers instructions. In the pic below you'll see the cut out in the panel on the right side of the image where the subwoofer would be. The flange on the floor is actually tucked under the carpet and you can see where we had to cut the carpet to do so. When you don't have the subwoofer you are supposed to use another well nut assembly and bolt the flange down to the floor. But the bolt isn't long enough to penetrate through all the carpeting and engage the threads in the well nut. So we elected to bypass a layer of carpeting and tuck the flange underneath it.

Note the oversized washer again. This time you can see the size of the original hole in the flange.

Nice Job! those well nuts can be such a P.I.T.A. but the end result is worth it!
