Default What to paint custom bumper with?

Since we don't have a fab section anymore I don't really know where to put this....? Anyways I am building a custom bumper for my JKU and was wondering what everyone is painting their bumpers with? Also how is your chosen method holding up? Thanks!

I painted my High Rock high access front bumper with Duplicolor spray on Bedliner.
I love how it turned out and the finish is holding up good.

I painted my Poison Spyder rocker knocers with rattle can bed liner and they are holding up great. Spent a day at the Indiana Badlands in some water, mud, rock and sand. Only had it on for a couple of weeks but no sign of wear and I use them as a step.

I had my PSC Brawler Lite powder coated. Much stronger finish.

Hi all, To add to this, I would have to say the best paint to use for touching up most bumpers is SEMS Trim Black in a rattle can. It has a smooth textured satin finish which matches most powder coated (black) bumpers. It also is easy to apply and blends well with existing finishes.

For those of you who used the rattle can bed liner stuff, how difficult is it to clean the mud off after it dries? I've heard this can be a chore, and that it sort of stains the finish. Perhaps that was with one particular brand, though.

Bedliner fades I find, and it more abrasive than it needs to be for a bumper. imo.

I'd use Rocker Guard paint in aerosol. Looks great, takes a long time to fade and is extremely durable for a bumper application. And it won't rip apart your wash rag and hands when scrubbing.

I use just your regular old spray paint. It doesn't hold up as well as bed liner or powder coat, but it is cheap, and, if you are like me and drag over rocks and and not baby your ride, everything will eventually scratch and crack. The good old flat black spray paint is cheap and available just about everywhere, so after you hit the wash rack and dry off, it is easy to touch up scratches before rust sets in. Probably doesn't look as nice as the other alternatives, but it serves its purpose. Oh, I use primer on it as well.

I haven't attempted anything as large as a bumper but the Rustoleum engine paint high temp rated stuff has worked well on trim pieces and shackles for me.

I used Rustoleum truck bed liner in a spray can. Got it at Home Depot along with some self etching primer. I used it on my wheels, front and rear custom bumpers I made. They have held up good and you can touch up small chips or scratches which is not common for me. It is cheap and cleans well. I just run through the car wash after playing in the mud and it looks fine. No stains. Attached is a view of front bumper and wheels painted to give you an idea.
