Default Anyone ever rented a rig in Moab?

I just found out that we are heading to Utah for a week this summer and I can't justify not doing a couple of days in Moab. That being said we already have a two week overseas trip planed this year so I don't have enough time to trailer my Rig out. Has anyone rented a rig, where, from who? I'm looking at Cliffhanger since they seem to have rigs close to what I'm used to driving. Any help or shared experiences would really help. Then I get to break the news to my Rig... She is going to be pissed :-)

I have not but I know people who have. Generally they are very capable vehicles. Cliffhanger seems to be good, I would also suggest you look into outlaw jeep in moab. Some of the companies have a prohibited list of trails and/or obstacles on certain trails..depending on what trails you want to do this may be a road block.

Once on Hells revenge I saw some guy walking off the trail...he'd rented a jeep and tried to take it up the escalator on hells revenge and got stuck on it..he thought he was going to roll so he left it there and went back to town and had to have the rental company come in and tow him out. I imagine they were pretty pissed off as he wasn't even suppose to be on the trail.

There is a company called Farabee's you might want to check out. I was going to rent one from them when I was in Vegas a few months back, but I did not have enough time.

Thanks for chiming in. Anyone else with info? Can't have to much ammo :-) what about a place to stay? We are more Westin than motel 6 :-)

I don't know a whole lot about renting jeeps,
But I do know if this is what you want to do
then please take time to review the different
rental carriers. And read any reviews that may
be posted bout them.

I found this out about Cliffhangers via Yelp;

So thankfully, unlike the other reviewer they had our reservation,
(we called ahead and checked based on that).
We asked the guy working there for places to go. The only trail map
they have they specifically don't recommend. We specifically told him
we have never been 4by before, and that we just wanted to see sights.
So he recommended Hells Revenge trail. So we arrive at the park gate,
and were informed that Hells Revenge is for EXPERIENCED drivers and we
were given the minimum equipment to even go on the trail. So we opted
for fins n things.
Thank god we made some friends along the trail who acted as our guides.
Given the sheer number of jeep rental places I would rent from them only
as a last resort.
One positive note: there are no trail restrictions, so you can take them
wherever you like.

EDIT:
We loved the jeep, and it was well equipped, but if you rent from these
people be prepared to find your own trails and do your homework before
you go on any trail they recommend.

I saw the same review and also saw there was only 2 reviews total so that's why I started the thread. It's bad enough my rig won't be out there but to drive a stocker might be no fun at all.

I have had friends rent from Cliffhanger almost every time we go....mainly because other than BGE there wasn't really any restrictions. But the Moab trail book way before you come out and that is all the map you will need.

That's makes me feel a little better knowing that they have used them several times.
