10" Lights on AEV Bumper?
I can't seem to ever get anyone on the phone at AEV since I ordered my bumper and was wondering how far apart the holes are? I'm going to use some LightForce HIDs if they'll fit with at least an inch between them but they're 9.5" diameter.
While we're on the subject, does anyone know if the new HID lights from other known companies are as bright as Lightforce?? From everything I've read and people I've talked to, LightForce seem to blow everything else out of the water. I really wonder about the Warn HID lights and also like the Warn Dual beam lights that are fog and spot at the same time......seams like nice combo for running offroad.
What do you use for lights and why? HIDs are expensive and justifying the cost is something I'm not finished with yet but if I get them I'll report.

Hey, i asked them a while back. They said they are not sure if they will fit...they said it depends on how far they stick forward. I have the 240s and they said if i wanted to order the bumper, i could send them in, and they would test fit them to see if they fit before i ordered it
The bumper was designed around a light that was 9" so im guessing these will fit....let us know though.
O yea, nothing compares to a lightforce

Thanks Bofer! Sounds like they will work.
Phish, The guy I spent an hour on the phone with yesterday, Dick at offroadlights.com, said the regular lightforce blows the other companies HID lights away. He is a dealer and probably a little bias but he said the technology is in the reflector more than the xenon bulb and wattage. Being a high-end flashlight collector and builder, this makes perfect sense to me. The depth and diameter size of the reflector determines the throw and intensity of the beam. A little LED can be much brighter than a 150 halogen if the reflector is built proper. The only question left is how bad or good the reflectors are that Warn, Hella, PIAA, KC, Etc. offer. Some of their HIDs are somewhat small which kind of defeats the purpose since HID stands for High Intensity. HID lights also use less than half the wattage of halogen lamps and have around 2/3 more output if done correctly.
Anyone else have any insight on HIDs.....I just started learning yesterday.
Oh....Bofer, they make a conversion for your 240s to make them HID as long as they're not the XGT model. The ballasts are external after the conversion but the output and efficiency upgrades gains might be worth it. Dick at offroadlights also sells pre-converted 240s so you can get a pair of HIDs for the price of 1.......probably what I will do.

Not a bad idea i guess. Just my opinion, i would stray away from the HID setup though. Difference being, if my bulb blow, i can stop and get a bulb at a local store, where as you will be hard pressed to find an HID bulb where you might be. I have the 240 halogens and they light up the road extremely well, i would say prolly a good 25 times the distance of the regular brights
