'11 door panels on a '07 JK

I'm an 'elbow on the sill' kinda guy and the panel is (painfully) squared off right next to the window which makes it uncomfortable to drive when the windows are rolled up.
I purchased one of these eyesores, but would like a perm solution.

To my knowledge this won't work because the inner metal door skin in the pre-2011 does not match the shape of the 2011+.
There is more metal covered with the newer door skin and the shape of the panel is different. Also where the 2011+ panel screws at the bottom, there are no screws in the pre-2011 panel in that same location. I doubt the newer panel would sit flush in the earlier door skin.

Perhaps I stand corrected. *Subscribed*
If this in fact will work, this is yet something else I will have to do to upgrade my 07.
I've already stolen the cargo net and larger sun visors from the newer model years. I've always hated the door panels until the 2011s came out.
If you figure this out and make it work, I'll gladly make you my personal Jeep hero.

The door panels have shipped. Unfortunately they did not show up today. I will test fit one as soon as they arrive. I will also need to pick up the internal handles but decided to not spend the money on them until I know they will fit.
Stay tuned.....

The first question is answered: will the fit?
The answer is yes! However, of course there is a however. My hope was it would be a pop off the old and pop on the new. Not so much.
The electric door lock takes a different sized fitting - basic wiring required.
Location of the little black plastic things that hold the panel in place do not all line up - some do and more importantly the bottom screws line up! One of the "perches" on the '11 panel needs to be trimmed for the panel to sit flush.
Lastly and fairly obvious is the interior door handle. Yet TBD. I will order the handle and see what comes of it. If this does not work in the end, I will have two very nice door panels and an interior handle for sale for an '11!
