2.5" Lift and What Size Tires?
Alright guys, I know this topic gets beat to death on here, but I need to make a final decision on tires and would love to hear from the guys running a 2.5" lift. My Tereflex BB with extensions will be here today. I already have 305/70/17's at the shop, but my buddy owns it and told me he can change them if I want him to. I cannot decide on whether or not to go with the 305's or 315's. I have heard conflicting stories that the 315's will fit, others say they rub with 2.5"'s. I have 1.5 inch spacers, stock rims, and 2.5" lift. What's the verdict?
Thanks everyone,
Chuck

good question.
I am watching & waiting to see exactly what route i will take with mine, and i too havent seen anyone give a solid answer on this.
You are right in the range i am looking at with tire size and lift. i want a 2.5" -3" lift, and the biggest diameter tire i can put on it without it looking like a Looney Tunes mobile. Everyone seems to shoot all around this mark, but no-one right on it.

Yeah, since it also depends on wheel size. I am running 17 inch wheels, so a 315/70/17 = 34.4/12.4. If you are running a 16 inch wheel, a 315/70/16 = 33.4/12.4, so the 16 inch is an inch smaller. I guess the question is, will a 34.4 inch tire fit with 2.5" of lift without rubbing, or do I go with a 305/70/17, which equates to 33.8/12?
Thanks Again,
Chuck

This is what im looking at also either a 2.5 or 3 inch teraflex. With as much clearance as the 3 inch has over 35s, I have a very hard time believing a 2.5 inch lift and 315s or 35 inch tires would not work also. Just have yet to see that combination in a picture yet.

Have you thought about a 15" wheel/tire and it's diameters?

I've been waiting for an answer to this same question as well... It seems the guys with the 2-2.5" lifts and 34-35" tires haven't had the chance to fully flex their rigs yet offroad. The teraflex kit comes with front and rear bumpstop extensions so it could very well be possible to run 35's disconnected. I'm hoping Eddie tries to fit 35's on his 2.5 teraflex bb before installing the body lift he was talking about.

Yep basically this is one reason I am sitting on my hands before ordering a lift. I want to see what a 2.5 teraflex looks like with 35s or 315s. 3 inches looks good, but 2.5 might work better for myself, cheaper, less modifications, etc.

well, I've decided to stick with the 305/70/17 Goodyear MTR's. Couple reasons; I really do not want to do a body lift, in the event the 315's rub, and I am trying to think about power with the 4.10 gears. Right now it runs great with the stock 32's, so going up to a 33.8 inch tire, should still keep me in the range of being able to use 6th gear. I can always go bigger later, if I decide to go that route. I have my lift and hope to get it installed this weekend, then need to get down to my buddies shop to get the tires on and get it aligned. If all goes well, I'll report in on Monday as far as how things went.

That is a good call in my opinion. The 35"s with a 2.5" lift would not be enough. I would not put a 35" on without at least a 3". The 3" and 35" is a good fit but any smaller and I would not do it. I like my combo of 35" and 3" but if I could have waited, I probably would do it over with a 2" Old Man Emu when/if it comes and a 34". I think this would be a better combo for a daily driver that sees allot of highway. The 4:10's are not bad with the 35's but the 34"s would be better and a little better to get in and out of as that would drop ride height approx 1.5" with a 2" and 34"s vs. 35" and 3". My two cents...
