2010 Rubi ring gears
Hello all, a fellow jeep owner is selling used 4.56 gears, he says are dana 44. I pulled the ring gears outta the box, one is bigger. Shouldn't Rubicon dana 44's be the same size front and rear?
|
Negative, the rear should be slightly bigger. Front ring gear diameter should be 8.5" if I recall correctly, and the rear is like .25" to .30"(?) larger.
Dana 30 ring gear is like 7 and 1/8" diameter (for those of you on this forum who think 37's are acceptable on a D30 :omg: ) |
For the tiny bit of savings you might see in used gears, you are much better off going with brand new. This wouldn't be an advisable place to skimp.
