2012 on 37s
Just got my jeep back with the new gears, 5.13's. Couldn't be happier with this choice, with my setup, this brings me back to just a bit better than stock performance. I can see how any gear will make you happy. I probably would have been happy going with 5.38 too. My advice is if your on the fence, go to the lower ratio (higher number). Thinking 4.56 and 4.88, go 4.88. Too close to tell the difference at hwy speeds, the difference is in the torque. With my 5.13's I can easily go 80 mph and the rpm's were at 2900 in 6th gear.
I was worried i'd hate it and wish I played it safe and went with 4:88, but it threw me at first when i started up my Jeep and drove it on pavement, other than being a good bit taller than when I had the 33's, it felt an awful lot like when I started out with my lousy 3:21's and factory 255's
It was great to drive then, it only started sucking when I put the 285's on and then added the heavy bumpers and then the winch...
It was fun cruising around in it tonight after I picked it up
I didn't have the time or energy to take it out on the highway, was a long day, spent almost 2 hours in an MRI
Can't wait to take it for a longer drive tomorrow!
Only downside now is that the rear view mirror isn't of much use between the Ace rear bumper/Tire carrier (which carries the tire/wheel higher to fit larger wheels) and the new 37's there is only a sliver on each side of the rear view that is viewable, and that is with it flipped upside down!

I have a 12 jku auto w 4:10s and 35, bumpers winch slides etc. No complaints for a daily driver and some trail rides. Holds overdrive nicely up hill. If your worried get 4:56s. But it's really not necessary.
I have a 2013 2 Door w/ 37" M/T-R's and Im running 4.56. I think 4.56 or 4.88 is fine. I live just off the same roads Marcus is talking about and I have driven 85 and I can tell you its not enough gear if you plan on doing that, but I think its more of a wind drag problem. I feel 4.88 would have the same problem at 85+ in these windy and hilly Texas roadways. I plan on adding Ripp S/C then deciding if I want to stick with 4.56 or move up to 4.88 when I order the PR axles.

Bottom line if you like to run at 80-85, you may need to get another car that will or ^^^ put a supercharger on it. Once you go with bigger tires I don't think there isn't a gear set that will achieve this comfortably, you can do it though. Its now a HP issue, not gears. We regear for torque.
