I'm just curious if running a 1.5" spidertrax wheel spacer with a 5" backspaced wheel (resulting in 3.5" backspacing) would be a huge deal? Especially for someone that isn't hardcore with their rig.
To me, it sounds like a lot of backspace to run 35’s. From what I understand, you do need to move your wheels outward as you increase tire size to maintain proper scrub radius but probably not a full 1.5". That's probably closer to 37’s but I don't see you have much choice short of buying new rims with proper backspace.

It's fine. Most guys running beadlocks or 37s are around 3.5". That is what I was running. I did burn through a front hub and Synergy ball joints, but I had 37s and wheeled the crap out of it.

Personally (pure opinion), I would just resolve the issue with different control arms. Sell the ones you have and you could get different ones for less than doing wheel spacers. In the long run, you will have less cost as well, due to less wear. Plus, you don't ever have to worry in the back of your mind about spacers.

What different control arms would you recommend that would have an inward bend to allow for more clearance?

You'd have to check with each manufacturer. My Metalcloak arms had a pretty good bend. Otherwise, I would just buy some DOM and have it bent to clear and then make your own. Cheaper than buying them too.

I hate to invite a new thread, but maybe title one "Control arms that clear 35s with 5" BS wheels" or something like that.
