^^Manual is the only way to go!!

When I was looking for a Jeep I checked out some TJ's and they were all stockers and just looked plain small. I decided to go to the stealership and look at JK's. I first drove a 2011 6 Speed with 3.21 gears. It drove ok but was just lacking that Chirp on 2nd and 3rd I just dumped the clutch feel. They told me that the new ones had a better engine in them and I would like that so they let me drive a 2013 6 speed with 3.73 gears. To me it was like night and day. Off the line acceleration was way better and it felt like I had power all the way to the redline much better engine. Needless to say I took the bad boy home and love my baby. I would really like an LS2 or 3 upgrade since I did have a chevy 6 years prior to my JK and did not have any problems with it even with a 5" Rancho Suspension lift with Eaton E-lockers.

I drove my friends '08 JKU with 35's and zero armor and it was a complete pig. My '13 is much better, but we'll see what its like with 35's. Hopefully not like the '08, but not that importwant since I don't speed anymore.

I really don't mind the 3.8L pig motor. It's a jeep, if I wanted to go fast I would have bought something else. It's badass and can keep up with traffic so it's doable. I'm just gonna superchip it until I can afford a 4BT swap... I can't justify sticking with a gas motor... Jeep with black smoke pouring out the back just turns my gears

I've never driven the 3.6 pentastar so I can't really compare. But my 2011 3.8 with CAI and exhaust, 4" lift, 35" tires and 4:88 gears seems to move pretty good for a lifted brick.

Had an 08 with 34" and 3" lift. High way to me was brutal, especially if you were doing elevation changes. Sold it and bought a 2013. First of all, the cylinder issue was solved with the 2013's and is covered fully by Chrysler. The +100hp was a nice feel. I felt like the throttle response was the biggest change, after that it was more of the ability to hold a good RPM and MPH at highway speeds that I was unable to do before. As for the people saying the Auto Tranny hunts gears at highway speeds, the 3.73s are awesome! I've had no hunting or random shifts. I also am not sure about those who say that they don't think there is enough torque....Surprising..

Overall, the highway driving and just daily driving is much more enjoyable. The gas mileage has improved, and I honestly have to still get used to not using my lead foot like I used to have to use in my 08'.

X 2........ Mine doesn't hunt for gears... Drivability is awesome.. If I want speed and raw horsepower, I'll drive my Vette... The 3.6, 3:73 auto is incredible on and offroad (coming from a guy who has owned 4 lifted, Jeeps (3 manuals and one auto that i still own) And, don't tell me I enjoy it that much because its stock (for now) either because my buds Jeep is identical to mine with a 4" Long Arm and 37's and it kicks the shit out of my 11' on 35's,,,,,,, on AND offroad!!!! (Which is why I purchased the '12....) :-)

I like that the new motor is quicker, but my 3.8 works just fine, she ppuuurrrs. If the 3.8's are trusty enough for Moby and EVO 1 to run for em as hard as they do for years, it's trusty enough for me.
