Default 33.8" tires

After tons of research on old posts, Im about to buy 33.8" MTR tires for my 2008 2 door Rubicon. It's got an AEV 2" spacer suspension lift. I plan on mounting my new tires on AEV Pintler wheels that offer more back spacing than the stock wheels.
Wich would fit better, 285/75 R17 or 305/70 R17? Both tires are nearly 34" tall. Anyone see a problem with either of these? It's an expensive purchace, I want to be sure fits!
Thanks,
Nathan

I'm right there with you! I bought duratracs 265 70 17 before my 2.5 teraflex spring lift and now they are too small an i am regretting it! Not so much the duratracs, but the size. I am thinking about selling these tires and getting the sizes you referenced. If I do I will really struggle between duratracs and MTR.

Duratrac is a great tire. So is the MTR. How did you decide on MTR? Please please post pics when done so I can make my choice also.

Also, triple check your overall height. I thought size is 33" flat... Did you do the math or measure them? It would be great if yor right and that may help my decision.

I just went thought this also.. I wanted a tire close to a 34" from the discount tire calculator here is the difference in the two sizes I was looking at.. keeping with a 17" rim.
I ended up buying the Toyo MT's 285/75/17 and should be getting them Friday.

If you view it from a computer and not a mobile device it's a table that shows the difference in sizes of stock 255/75/17 vs 285/75/17 &305/70/17
Thought it might be useful for the op

Thanks for the input everyone. My measurements came from online tire conversion programs that convert metric to standard sizes. I have no first hand knowledge of actual heights. I struggled between the duratrac and mtr, but settled on mtr because I'm looking to get the best traction offroad. It is my daily drier, but when I offroad, I count on my nearly stock (in the suspension department) rubicon to get the job done. I've got a set of wheels and tires off a Sahara that I bought cheep. I use them for long road trips.
Keep your thoughts commit everyone! Unfortunately, it looks like the mtr only comes on the 305 size, which may be to wide. I have no way of knowing.

I'm guessing the actual measurements from tire to tire and manufacturer to manufacturer vary. You best to measure the tires you want in person. Looks like a pretty different actual
Measurement from
TOYO to GY.

My Toyo AT2s that are 285/75/17 measure 33.1" don't trust manufactures numbers they are rarely accurate. Ask forum members to get real world measurements. I have 1.5" wheel spacers and a leveling kit. No problems. Wish I went with 35s though. Good Luck.
