Default 33 vs 35 gas mileage.

How much of a difference will 33's get in mpg than 35's?

You can't have a jeep and be worried about gas mileage... thats crazy talk

I'm pulling this out of thin air, but from other posts I've read, you can expect about a 1-2 MPG drop with 35's.

And as bodybrding posted, you really can't be too concerned with MPG in a Jeep - if that's your top priority, you chose the wrong vehicle...

I just went to 33's from stock Sahara wheels. I noticed I was getting 17-18 before. Now I'm lucky to squeak out 14-15 on the gauge. I couldn't imagine getting less. I'll stick w/ 33's

These tires are an easy 10% bigger than stock though --- so with speedo/odo is now 10% off. It would make sense that the calculation from the OB computer would be off by 10% as well. I've done the math on a tank and it was better than what the gauge showed. In reality, it's probably 16-16 all around, and I don't drive it hard either. Never over 75 on the hwy.

I can tell you that my stock wheels and tires are featherweight to a 33" MT on a wider wheel. They have to be close to 100lbs each. That'a a helluva lotta work to get those moving. I have 4.10's too.

With 35's, I'd say you're gonna drop 1-2 mpg around town assuming you also regear. If you don't regear, you're gonna drop probably 2-4. On the Hwy, I think you'll drop probably similarly. With 33's, not really sure but somewhere shy of the above numbers but probably not by too much. The key is to regear and get the power better delivered again to the tires and therefore you MPG will come back closer to normal (but not all the way back to factory/stock).

I've pretty sure I'm going up to 35s after my 33s wear out. From what I've researched, regearing is key. Once I get 35s I'll either go with the 5.13 or 4.88 gears.
