33s on stock 17" wheels size help
 

I'd like to go up to a 33" tire on the stock 17" wheels that came on my unlimited sport.

Is 285/70/17 the best size to go on these wheels? Tiring sizing still confuses me some.

Also, I'd like to throw on the leveling kit and possibly wheel spacers to kick them out some. Anyone running a similar setup?

b/c of the wheel width that would be good but I have seen pictures on this forum with 35x12.5x17 stuffed on stockers so I assume a 33x12.5x17 would work...

There are a few other tires available at 305/65/17 that would likely work.

bfg mt's and goodyear mtrs are now available in 305/70/17 which are a 34... that might be a little tough to pull off with out at least a leveling kit

No matter what size you get you will absolutely need wheels spacers and might have to trim the front airdam... if you rub off road you can always get bump stops which will limit your travel but its a cheap way to run larger tires without rubbing before you get a lift.

I just finished this setup on my 2010 2door sport. I put Cooper Discovery STT's on it (33 X 12.5 X 17)'s and I couldn't be happier! I used Rough Country 1.5" wheel spacers to give me the clearance needed to clear the suspension components. I didn't have to trim anything to make them work. I was able to mount my spare on the stock carrier without modifying anything, I just bolted it up (No spacer either). I hope this helps, good luck!

I have 225/80/17 KM2's. They are 33/10.5's and I love them! No rubbing and no spacers.

I had put 285 70 17's on mine, rubbed at full turn, got spidertrax wheel spacers, proble solved

I'm gonna stop by my local 4x4 shop tomorrow to see if they have spacers in stock and if so maybe then stop by discount tire to see what 33" tires they have in stock :yup:

I know it's an older post but I had a question. With you wider tires and the wheel spacers pushing them out, do you have rub on the fenders at all with articulation?

That looks extremely clean. Like the tall narrow look on the stock wheels. They're still tucked under the fenders and has a very nice retro-Wrangler look to it. Thanks for sharing the tire size and pic. :beer::beer:
