35" Tire on Stock 17x7.5 Rims
 

I have been told that you can not safely put a 35x12.50x17 tire on a stock 17x7.5 rim. For those who have done this what are the safety concerns if any and are there any wear problems with doing this. I am being told that a 32" is the largest that should be put on the stock rim. I do know that 1.5 inch spacers at a minimum will be needed, please advise.

You can do it safely and many people do. I did for the longest time with a 1.5in spacer and had zero problems. You just have to run a little less tire pressure to get the best contact patch with the road. :thumbsup:

Had the exact same question when I was contemplating this set-up...

It is a fact that the manufacturer will not suggest this set-up. They suggest a wheel with a minimum width of 8.5", if I remember correctly.

However with that said, I've been running this exact set-up for over 10,000 miles, and have had no problems at all. Driving around town, on the highway, and taking it on the trail. I will mention, I have yet to do any extreme trails, mostly run moderate to difficult trails, but nothing extreme. Not because I don't trust this wheel and tire combination, but because I'm just not confident in my wheel'n skills yet. lol

Plenty of people run 35s on stock wheels, whoever told you it can't be done, doesn't know what they're talking about. Here's 50+ pages showing them off.
