Default 35s on 20s help plz

Hi all, just got a 2014 sahara 3.73 gears d44 rear 30front getting rims tires and a lift

2.5" lift not sure what brand leaning teraflex any suggestions?

20" xd rockstar 2 rims or 17s if 20s prove to be to much trouble

35x12.5x20 toyo at2 extreme or duratracs

she is my dd so 90% streets 10% offroad nothing hard core weekend fun with family. i need to know how viable is 20s and 35s as a dd can i run this setup without any other changes to my baby? if no what changes need to be made i avg 15mpg city now with stock tires 255r18s what kinda drop can i expect with the 20s n 35s? going to a 17" rim and 33" is an option but id rather not but if the 20s 35 setup wont workout for me i will or even 17 35? ive never had any vehical lifted or ran bigger tires so im counting on you guys to educate me here plz thank you all

2.5" Teraflex BB with shocks or shock extensions isn't a bad starting lift. Specially if it's going to be a DD.

Now for the wheels. 20" wheels are a horrible choice. Sure, they make look cool, but that's it. Your ride will be rougher since there will be less side wall. More chance of damaging a wheel. And you will pay out the ass for tires. Bigger the wheel, more money the tire costs.

17s and 35s is a better combination, specially if you move up to 37s as it seems 37s are more common for a 17" wheel.

It's your rig tho. So if you want to run 20s go right ahead, but personally I wouldn't even think about it.

There are a few people who wheel on 20s with 35s, but it's really not optimal. You need sidewall to protect the rim, especially when you air down. You may think you won't air down, but even if just traveling dirt roads, the washboard roads will have you paying for new dental fillings in no time flat if you don't. LOL. And, if you do air down on 20s, you risk damage to the rims. Also, 20s and 35s just yell out to your fellow Jeepers: "I just bought this for the looks; I don't wheel it!" Remember that this is a Jeep you're building, not a pick-up truck. What knowledgeable people think looks good on a pick-up or SUV is sometimes much different than what looks good on a Jeep.

I went with 17 wheels and very happy. Also, for me 17 wheel x 35" tires combo look(appearance) way better than 20" x 35.
Not mentioning that you can air down when hit trails.

Not a fan of big rims and lower profile tires on jeeps, but like it on cars if done for performance. Tire performance for off road is when the low air pressure tire can mold around a rock. Regarding how many mpg you will see: too many variables. Just know that any change from stock, not just tires but any changes, will diminish mpg. Controlling your right foot is one free mod that has the most effect on mpg.

17's equal better ride, better for off road and way more options for replacement later on. 20's have come down a lot over the last few years but there is still limited options and still very expensive. I loved the looks on my Ram with 20's but not my JK. The dealer had 20's on my Jeep when I bought it and I had them swap them for 17's. Here are some before and after pics to give you an idea.

I am running 2.5" Teraflex BB with 20" wheels and 35's. Granted it's not optimal for off road, but the wheels came on my rig with 33's and I didn't want to spend the extra to change wheels when I went to 35's. It has a much smoother ride with the 35's extra sidewall, but even with the 4.10 in my rubicon I need to regear to at least 4.88's. Probably wouldn't be so bad with the new engine tho.

It cost me less money to buy 15s and 35s than it woulda cost me to get just 35s for the 17" Moabs. Did you shop around a lot?

Unfortunately I really like the style of the wheels and they only come in 20's. For me it would have taken months to find another style that I like.
