5,000 Miles on 35's
Booked a trip for the family to Moab in June - Woohoo!!
I have started my build on my 2012 JKUR with Moab in mind:
PSC Bumpers - front and rear
ARB Diff Covers
10K Syn Winch
Some misc other mods
I need help/advice on whether I pull the trigger on the lift and tires or wait until after. While certainly would enjoy it for the looks and trail performance, a break down on the 2,400 mile one-way trip from South Florida would turn a dream into a nightmare. What additional risk is there to moving to the bigger tires that I will be on the side of the road waiting on AAA?

Just pull the trigger, you know you want to. I've driven cross country a couple times with the AF moving me since having 35s and haven't had any issues. Buy quality parts and you will be set, minus a few more gas stops! I would do it early so you can drive around with the new lift on and get everything re-torqued prior to heading out on the long journey.

Yep...get it now and get everything working and used to the road before you head out. Take it on a pre-run somewhere local just to be sure...like anyone really needs an excuse to go run their Jeep on the weekend...

Moab is awesome in a stock rig but will leave you regretting not building it up more before the trip.
I took my Jeep to moab stock for the first time to see what it was going to be like knowing i was going to lift it and add the bigger tires. I live really close though, not across the country!
As far as reliability goes, my Jeep is just as if not more reliable than it was stock. All the suspension components are 10 times more strong and the tires are load range E. I'll drive my Jeep anywhere.

Just a thought. If you are going to lift the Jeep, do it soon. When I lifted my Jeep after a few miles of driving I started to have death wobble. I had to take it back to the shop a couple of times before they found the exact cause. Had to order a new bracket and have it installed. The shop did a great job. I would have hate to find that in the middle of a long trip.
