Default 5.13 or ?

Hello all, I'm wondering what gear ratio would be better suited for my Rubi. I have a 07 2dr auto currently with 35's. I find the lost in power manageable except on highway driving. I am wanting to upgrade my gears and have read up a lot on 5.13's and i believe its 5.33's or 5.38's( i cant remember). I'm pretty sure I'm going to go to 37's whenever i wear out my 35's, but its not in stone. I was wondering and there is such a big difference between the 2 that if i went with one it wouldn't be enough or it'd be too much. Like if I stayed with 35's and went with 5.38's and it was too much or i end up going to 37's and went with 5.13's and it wasn't enough. Opinions are incouraged! I go wheeling quite a bit, Its probably 50/50 on-offroad. It a lot of low-speed crawling, trail riding.

I have 5.13s with 37s and they are great! I can do 70mph all day no probs. and only at about 2300rpm (auto). Get them, you won't regret it. I'm going down to 35s and I think they will be even better then.

with 37's, 5.38 is a nice ratio to have that will give you a bit more power but, the pinion will be very small in a dana 44 and will be a weak point. if you play hard with your jeep, i personally would recommend that you forego power for strength and just stick with a 5.13. the difference really isn't that much. but hey, that's just what i would do.

Default 5.13 in a dana 30

Is it safe to run 5.13 gears in a open dana 30? I don't want to risk strength. I will not lock the front but will have the non rubi danna 44 locked Arb.

yeah, you can do it and so long as you keep the front open, you should be fine.

I have a 11 2 door auto with 4.88 and stock size 32 inch rubber. I never plan to go bigger or I would of went 513. Still should of as I now run 2500 at 70mph and would only be around 2600 with 513. I have a dana 30 up front in my sahara. Anybody wanting to go anything bigger then stock rubber should just get the 513 and be done with it. If you have a rubi go with the 538 in the 44 danas. Anything else is a waste of money. This is for the 7 to 11 auto wranglers with the 4 speed auto which comes from the factory as a design flaw in every automatic made as even the 410 is not suitable for everyday driving with stock tires and the 3.8 with auto. The most miss geared vehicle I have ever owned, until I installed 488 Yukon gears. And don't worry about the pinion gear in a Dana 30 if you buy Yukon or other good brand and have the installed by a professional gear head! You won't breakem!
