5.13 gears with Dana 30
Is 4.88 the highest gear ratio available for the Dana 30 or will 5.13 gears work. Running 3.73 auto with 35s on d30 front and d44 rear.
Thanks |

a couple. first off, the higher gear ratio will cause your front drive shaft to spin really really fast and if you're running an aftermarket u-joint style shaft, it will vibrate pretty good if you have too much caster and/or don't have it balanced perfectly. over time, this can cause your t-case to crack. i have seen this happen many times one multiple JK's including mine. the other problem is that on a dana 30, the pinion gets to be really small on a 5.13 and this can potentially be a weak point when wheeling hard.

All stock from my point of view. Teraflex lift (2.5") and Nitto 35s only. will I be asking for trouble?
I have been shopping around in the greater metro area for pricing on gear installs, if I come across something reasonable I will be sure and post it up |

Doesn't sound too dangerous. 5.13s will help with the power loss and because you already have 3.73s you don't need a new carrier which saves a little bit of cash.

Thanks let me know.. Actually I'm running stock 4.10s.. apparently the previous owner paid for the upgrade.. so the power loss hasn't been all that bad.. Don't get me wrong, running up to Copper sure is a struggle. any concerns with 4.10s and the setup I listed above and changing to 5.13s?
