Default 5.13's with stock tires

Since I'm already not to thrilled with the performance of my 3.8 with the auto, I was thinking about doing a gear swap and lockers before a lift and tires. Wish I had the money to do it all at once, but I don't. Anyways, would the 5.13's be liveable with my stock 225's ( I think thats what they are, I have the stock steel wheels), or is it really gonna be singing on the highway?

I think your engine will hate you.

Seriously, you'd be singin' up a storm I think. I wouldn't do it until you have some meat for those gears to push.

Well you'd be the quickest non-Hemi around! I can't find the link to the chart but I guess you'd be turning 3000-3100 rpm at 75 mph. Cruise would work great and you'd never come out of OD if you have an auto. If you have a stick you'd be turning even faster. Your mileage would really suck too.

I'd probably do the lift and tires first. You can live with them for a while easier than the 5.13's and 225's.

5.13's is almost to much for 35's on the highway..

It would be scary on stockers..

at 75 mph, I'm running 3,000 rpms...

With my automatic I'm turning 2600 which seems to be about right. I don't think I'd want to be over 2700. The .84 OD in your 6 speed is a big difference from the auto's .69 OD.

It sounds like you need 37"s just to bring your rpm's down!

thats my plan, use up the 35's and bump up to 37's.

I love the extra gearing, it gives the V6 the needed power
