Default 6 inch lift worth it?

Hey guys, I have an 09 jk unlimited Sahara. I've had a 2.5' lift on 35s since i got it back in 09. It's about that time to replace my tires and also replace all my shocks again. I figured since I'm going to have to do all this replacing why not just get a 6 inch lift with 37s. Would the handling change drastically from my previous 35s?

Going from 2.5 inches to 6 inches would be a noticeable difference in handling. What lift do you currently have and what gear ratio are you running? You should be able to go to 37's on the lift you have if you invest in some flat fenders.

I would do a 4" lift and flat fenders for 37's personally

Do you offroad it If you just want looks for mall crawling then go for it. If you wheel hard then I would stay around 4". Everyone says to top heavy and 4" would still have good LCG. You can run 37" tires with 4" and stock flares. I've recently running 4" flat flares and 37"x12.50. Had to trim stock ruby rail and pinch seam ( not noticeable ) With the 4" and flats you could even run 40" tires. But if you looking for height and looks go 6 If you offroad hard I would stay around 4" like others have stated

I have the basic pro comp 2.5 lift with 5.13 gear ratio. It's my daily driver

6" is really tall. You can fit 40's on a 4.5" kit with some trimming and flat fenders.

I would suggest 4" lift for 37's.

Nah, go for 6"! If your thinking about it now, you always will be. 6" is gonna give you enough for prob any tire you want in the future. Plus you said you got a Sahara, lot of people like the painted fenders and don't wanna do flats. There's a few guys on here in CA with 6" on 37 that looks great and they wheel. Hopefully they'll chime in with some pics.

I'm leaning more towards to 4". I don't want it to be ridiculously big. Thanks Lucas.

The higher the lift, the worse your caster will be without considerable expense to fix it. You can run just about any tire with a 4" lift, flat fenders, and some body trimming. If it is your daily driver, anything over a 37" tire will get extremely expensive to stay in new tires every time they wear out.
