Default Afe performance parts help

Has anyone tried the intake from afe? If so how did work and can it be compared to airaid and or k&n cai's?
Also what would be best the plastic tube or a metal polished pipe? Whats the difference?

just installed aFe CAI - the QC was not impressive - the fittings were difficult to fit. I bought the enclosed aFe CAI thinking it would help with water crossings but it's not sealed at all and the air intakes are prone to water instake. I've used K&N in the past and wish I would've stuck with it, the quality of K&N fitting has always been clean and have never had to fight with a K&N to get it to fit.
If I were able to return the aFe I would.
