Any recommend Rugged Ridge 17x9 with Rock Ring?

Anyone running these?

Anyone have the additional rock ring? Is it just for show or does it actually do it job and protect the rim / valve stem? Ie..1 rock and it goes flying off...

thx!

First off I do NOT have these wheels or the rock rings. But I have wheeled with a guy who has them both. They certainly did there job. You could see where the ring saved his rim. The only thing I say that was an "issue" was that the hold mud, so when you go back to air up, you need to clear out a little mud to get to the valve stem......NOT a big deal. Hope that helped.

thx much! ive searched all over the forum.. but didnt find much, especially when you say "rugged ridge wheel", you get about 5000 results :-).

the only thing that seemed like a weak point are those tiny bolts that secure it.. i am worried that a rock would just shear them off. wonder if they make they more flush...

I'm narrowing my decision down to allied 16x10 beads, rugged ridge 17x9s, or aev 17x9 pintler (non bead).

Great design !

As Dstack says, they are not just for show, unless you want them that way. I don't know if the pictures do justice, but they do save the rim from alot of carnage. I have proven it first hand.

I myself would not spend this much cash on wheels. When my steel wheels get some rock rash, I just drive home and rattle can the bare spots ( all 5 of my soft 8s cost me $200)
