I think the smaller 1.5 ram is a bit quicker than the 1.75. If I remember right.
I put a new pump on mine when I installed it and the only thing I notice is the lag trying to turn lock to lock really fast while creeping along. Like trying to park. Sitting still with tire against a tree it will push it away from tree.
Otherwise its been great.
Correct if your using a stock pump you want to try and get a 1.5 ram. If your using a psc pump a 1.75 should be fine if i recall correctly.

I had the PSC assist with stock pump and thought it lagged when turning side to side. I added their pump and love it. i can move boulders just by turning the wheel---effortless.

On road, takes a bit to get used to but once you figure it out, it is the best. I run 37s and find the addition of the pump was key to proper operation. Good luck

I went the DIY route. 1.5" bore ram, 15" dual pass cooler, homebuilt hydraulic lines, mounting hardware and ports came to less than $300. Still running the stock pump and reservoir. It has a tiny bit of lag at slow speeds, like turning into a parking spot, but you get used to it within a day. Best thing I have done to this jeep so far.

It helps keep the cost down when you can do your own welding.
