Hi all,

I went on a trip to cliffs insane terrain last Saturday for the first time. I had never been to an offroad park before, had a blast.

My jeep is lightly modified:
12 Jku sport
32 inch duratracs and mamba offroad wheels
Warn elite series bumper and vr8000 winch

On the stock suspension I bottomed out many times, but I was able to get thru some of the trail with no problem, though I did need the winch after getting stuck in a pit. I'm not ready for a lift quite yet, but I wanted to ask what should I get specifically to protect the undercarriage? The skid plates did great but I'd like to protect the axle and all that from damage..

Also any recommendations for protecting the paint? I read about trail skinz? Anybody use that?

EVO makes a great skid for the under carriage. If you get diff covers you'll need to verify they will work with stock track bars. Some of the after market covers are larger and you may have some rubbing.

EVO has a really good skid kit that I installed on my 12. It works with the stock kit and provides the protection where you need it. I also have PSC diff covers that are awesome but like it was previously stated you need to verify which ones work with stock track bars. Your best bet would be to call a place like Northridge 4x4 or similiar shop and ask them if you can't get the info on here. As for paint you just need to wear those marks with pride because if you wheel it..... Have fun out there!

Phew, this all gets expensive real fast!

I'm digging the protek skid system: Linky

& I'm definetely getting the trail skinz. Every day I seem to discover more & more scratches . Never getting a black jeep again!

Yeah, you're right..it does get expensive. And you've just begun!! That's the beauty of owning a Jeep.....you can do stuff to it and never reach the end! Everytime you put something new on it, it's like Christmas morning. It's an addiction.
A don't worry too much about the scratches. It'll drive you crazy if everytime you go out and find a new one. Just do what someone else said earlier, wear them like a badge of accomplishment. Yes, black is the worst color for seeing these 'pin stripes' but don't let that keep you from enjoying the rig. Use it and have fun.

I'm going to be ordering the protek skid system tomorrow.. I also successfully buffed out all the scratches from the trip, one day I'll give up, but it's just so new right now!
