I was gonna do the auusie in my d 30 but i am planning on running 37's starting this spring so i will be upgrading to a pro rock 44. I know that the d30 would probably crap out with an aussie and 37's with the type of wheelong I do. Hopefully the link provided helps. Seems pretty straight forward. h ttp://www.4x4xplor.com/aussielocker.html

Sounds good. so the install is a mostly a plug and play? no modification to the housing needed? just wondering if i should do it in the driveway or bring it to work on the weekend.

You may wanna consider putting axle sleeves in to help reinforce the axles. If you're running a larger tire you should do the gussets as well. Terflex has a kit for that. I have a friend who has an Aussie locker in the front and has done those things. He is pleased with that set up. He said it does a lot better on the trails with the locker

That aussie link was a great one. I have been searching for a 2012 but it is hard to find a 3.73 gear with limited slip. I am thinking if I find a jeep that meets my needs but lacks the limited slip I'll just do Aussie's front and rear. That write up made it look very doable. Thanks for the link.
Does anyone know how the Aussie compares to the factory limited slip? maybe I am better off with the Aussie anyway.
As to building the d30, i agree with sleeves, I also read that you need to gusset the C's with any increase in tire size. Evidently the C's on the D30's and the D44's will bend with larger than stock tires. sleeves, and gussets run under $150. So a built adn locked front end is under $500.
