Auto-Lockers anyone

I am on a budget and want to do a self install

Powertrax Lock-Right front and rear?

Aussie front and _________ rear?

__________ front and _________ rear?

You are local to me, and since we don't deal with ice and snow, an Aussie (what I have) (or another auto) is great for the front. I would encourage it. The Dana 30 model works for the TJ and the JK.

For the rear, as a daily driver, you have to decide if you like the characteristics or not. I had one in my TJ and did not like it, but if you have an unlimited, it may be ok. Many guys report that they run good in an unlimited.

You don't mention what model rear axle you have, but if you have the BLD you will need to change carriers before installing in the rear. Lots of info on this, so if you want more, PM me and I can fill you in to avoid making mistakes. The JK Dana 44 (non) rubi needs special attention to get the parts right. In fact both Power Trax and Aussie say they have nothing for the JK Dana 44, but there is a way around that.

Hope this helps...

Dan

Ooops...

I see that you have a 2 door auto X, which I believe has a Dana 35 (someone correct me if I am wrong)

This is a difficult axle to lock only because it is a weak axle and has C clips. I am not that familiar with the JK Dana 35.

Anyone?

Can't help on the lockers, but his sig says he has an 08 X, only a few early 07's got the D35. He definitely has a D30 and D44.

He has an 08, so it should have a D44 in the rear. After the 07 models, all JK's have D44 in the rear...it's the front that is different, depending on if it's a Rubi or not.

Good!!!

You need a carrier for the rear which requires a pro to reset the gears anyway, so you may consider a selectable for the rear. No good way around this one. I have tried.

I would encourage an auto for the front though.

There are a couple of great threads on this now with some good dialogue. You should do a search.

I have a lock- right in the front, but haven't been able to test it, my frt driveshaft went kaput. I'm a 2wd until je reel gets my shaft back. Happened the day after I got 5.13's installed with the locker. I'm very sad .

Yup, Aussie is good for Big Bear, and Calico, and the Hammers...:ya:

Check out my clubs website and you will see my JK, and the "Crazy Guy" in his XJ with an auto in teh front and rear. You will see the extreme stuff these things can do.
