They've been telling me the same thing since before CHRISTMAS! They say it's the engineers' fault.

Not to me. JK's with stock tires are also going through ball joints.
All the stress from the tires goes right to the ball joints first. The problem seems to be the plastic in the joints can't handle the load. They should have been bigger, or all steel, with grease fittings. Mine failed under factory Rubicon wheels and tires. |
just catching up to this thread now. fwiw, on my orange jk, i went through ball joints in just 7500 miles and it was the source of my DW. got em replaced and all has been good :yup:

I have been through two set with 25K on the clock.
FWIW, everytime you call Dynatrac they say two weeks. I called them over a month ago and they said two weeks. |
Thank you for your patience. It's been hard for us too as our delivery has been postponed a few times.
Our shipment will get in next week but we will still need to inspect and assemble. If all goes as planned, and right now we're hearing all the right things, we should be able to start shipping the week of 2/28. We understand the issue of cost. Our ball joints are a premium product designed for maximum durability. While we have a very large qty of product coming in, compared to what Moog(Federal Mogul) or some other mfg'r would do, it's still a very small amount. Also, please keep in mind that Pro Steer ball joints are made in the U.S.A. That cannot be said for most of the ball joints available on the market today. I'll be back and provide updates as they occur. We appreciate your support. Scott |

I had the same problem with my 07 unl. 4 dr. with 4" lift and 37" tires, took it to a good alignment shop with the newest alignment rack we went a couple degree more on the caster angle to almost 5 degree, I think thats what it's called, anyhow it stopped the DW 40.00 bucks . :yup: tcjeep

So...IDK if this was covered or not but, how do you know when your balljoints go out? :dontknow2:
Grab the tire at top and bottom and wiggle it to see if the top ball joint has any side play. The limits are: Radial (side-to-side) movement in the upper ball joint should not exceed 0.060" (1.5mm). Axial (up and down) movement in the lower ball joint should not exceed 0.050" (1.25mm). This should let you know before you have handling issues. |
