Why would ball joints for a Jeep be marked with "mount inboard"? Asking for a friend. lol

No they are just normal replacements.

It seems strange to me as the should only rotate on a solid axle. It would be different on independent suspension I would think. Anyhow, I unknowingly installed the first one 180 out but going to run it since its all put together.
