Ball Joints
Mine lasted until 50k with 305/70r16. Went with synergy. At 160k and they still seem strong. Was thinking about replacing them anyway again for the last 75k life of the JK or whatever else I can get out of it. My girl has a 2004 WJ and she needs them also. Figured I'd try to do both. I practice on her vehicle in case I screw anything up. Lol
108K on mine and still good. 285-70/17 tires and stock wheels. My guess is that wheel offset and tire width/weight are large factors. Suggest checking play with a dial indicator like this per the service manual.

Skip Dynatrac for reasons listed above. @resharp001 can tell you more. Go Rare Parts.
Ugh, the ole DT ball joint disaster. Definitively don't consider those turds. If you care to take a few minutes to see the rebuild process and how fun it was, here's my thread on it - https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...ebuild-347721/
Lowendrider - Between Teraflex and Synergy, I'd go TF. Can't say I've seen complaints about em after their last remodel tweak. If I recall from years ago, the Alloy were dang near identical to Synergy except the color of the boot. I agree with Mr.T......tire size, weight, wheel offset, and usage are going to be big determining factors in life of ball joints. Heck, if you do your own work, you might just toss another set of factories in there (can't believe I said that). If you're paying someone to do the labor, not certain I'd gamble with factory.
I am not going to admit I ever did that. LOL. But, yeah, I know what you mean about being tired after working all day on the project. Plus, I was rushed because it was starting to rain.
i'm still pissed i didn't buy the Rare Parts last year when Fusion had them on sale for something like $420. but, that's what i'll be running when my OEMs wear out. Dynatracs wear out too fast and cost too much to rebuild. not worth it.
1. Rare Parts
2. Teraflex
3. Dynatrac and Synergy
4. OEM
The Dynatrac ball joints are nowhere near the Rare Parts in terms of durability. The Teraflex are a much better choice over the Dynatracs simply because of cost and adjustability. I would argue they’re the same durability, but you don’t need to shell out $150 on a rebuild kit for the Teraflex’s, just tighten them up.

hah, no. Having used 3/4 of these brands, here’s how those ball joints really rank:
1. Rare Parts
2. Teraflex
3. Dynatrac and Synergy
4. OEM

It took a decent while, but I've started to see more negative comments and/or issues with TF. I know from past threads that BLK HOLE is out using the jeep with 37s, so the TF in that application are getting decent use. Also know there are folks like Sv_dude that can tell you his issues with TF. It's really a crapshoot. I think it's fair enough to say many of us have had issues with this or that brand. I really still can't think of anyone in the past ever complaining about RPs failing on them. The quality of Rare Parts seems to be the one constant over the years. Is that because less people run them due to price? Is it because that tiny 10%, or whatnot, load they split to the uppers is the silver bullet? Is it because some have failed but people don't want to admit defeat on that purchase? Who knows. I hope I never have to buy BJs again, but if I do it will be RP. The last axle swap I did landed me with a 2nd set of DTs, and rebuild kit for them if I ever need to do that again.....which I hope I don't have to use based on my first experience.
