I'm at 165K on the original ball joints now with 285-70/17 tires. Plenty of 4x4, washboard roads, even the trip to/from home is 1/2 mile unpaved. Doubt that off-road use has anything to do with wearing them out, unless they are at high speeds. My take-away is still the same: With large heavy tires and more offset, count-on replacing the ball joints early (and maybe often).

Has anyone put 100K miles (or close) on RareParts, DynaTrac, Synergy, or Teraflex ball joints? If anyone has with 35+ tires, they would probably last forever on mine...

I do typically note that some, like you, have unusual luck with the factory BJs. I'm convinced they lubed yours with unicorn tears at the factory. To be fair, I have a friend who's got 55k miles on his Synergy units, with both 35s and 37s now. They've been fine for him, though I still wouldn't go back to that brand if they were given to me for free.

Also know there are folks like Sv_dude that can tell you his issues with TF. It's really a crapshoot. I think it's fair enough to say many of us have had issues with this or that brand. I really still can't think of anyone in the past ever complaining about RPs failing on them. The quality of Rare Parts seems to be the one constant over the years. Is that because less people run them due to price? Is it because that tiny 10%, or whatnot, load they split to the uppers is the silver bullet? Is it because some have failed but people don't want to admit defeat on that purchase? Who knows. I hope I never have to buy BJs again, but if I do it will be RP. The last axle swap I did landed me with a 2nd set of DTs, and rebuild kit for them if I ever need to do that again.....which I hope I don't have to use based on my first experience.
All good points, I even ran the TF ones on my 39s for a while. To be noted that I do wheel rocks but I am not in any way a throttle banger. I slow roll. Today, I have a dynatrac axle, with their ball joints on the front.

I once had the old Synergy joints and they were total junk. But the new ones are much better. I don't use them but friends of mine do and they have held up nicely on the rocks over the years.

Just measured mine with a dial indicator again, see https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-s...8/#post4390005 for the data, change from wear. Unicorn tear lube is low, but still OK.
