Beef with my JK. Documented.
Kay some some of you may have read my thread i posted earlier today about wanting to mod and my inclination that my JK would get blown out of the water by my buddies' CJs and YJs. On the way hime from the gym i took a ride around the yard in a out 1.5-2 fee if snow just to blow of some steam and document my issues with my jeep. Go ahead and tell me i cant drive and why im wrong. Take into mind i was in 4high, have 3.21 gears and 275/70/17 tires. No mods otherwise. Personally i think i should have been able to get through this junk in 2wd slowly rollin, i knowwwww my comrades CJs and such would have (granted they have circa 2 inches of lift and mud terrains) here i am stuck a few minutes ago... And yes i was bottomed out. Is a lack of lift my biggest issue in this particular situation?

dug to maybe 2.5 feet. They are cooper all terrains haha. And yea pinned i woulda banged through the drift , but that wasnt the point. I just feel that i think i shoulda been able the stop in the middle of that, drink a beer and effortlessly roll on out haha. But anyway thanks for the read. And with enough back and fourths i got out under my own power.
My wife did the same thing pulling up to my fish house she stopped on top of a snow drift and sunk. I had the stock Goodyear radials on there, not for off road. Now I have Fierce Attitude 285/75/17 tires and can get around anywhere. We went up to the U.P. driving in blizzard to get there, drove in the blizzard to get home. Never felt so confident in getting through the sh--. Your Jeep can get through an amazing amount of bad road, or even no road. Don't be discouraged. I actually pulled a trailer through an unplowed road into a buddies shack, dragging a wheeler behind like a boat anchor through no less than 2 feet of unplowed snow. You would not have believed it unless you seen it. The bed of the trailer was on the top of the snow and the tires did not reach the ground. I wish I had a picture to show you! Some tires, maybe a small lift and look out...nothing will .. stop you!
Looks like you were doing fine, just feel the momentum and keep it going early building your enough speed to get through what you are attempting to get through. Like anything if you loose your momentum you are going to get stuck. I would tell you to practice but if you are a 4x4 enthusiast you know to have a buddy and the right tools around when you do. It saves on shoveling and your BACK!

With good wet snow you can pack it so it lifts you up and your wheels can't help you
rubicon you hit your locker button and you wouldn't be stuck ive climbed up ice hills with lockers no lift on mine it goes through deep snow
bottom line you need to be in 4wdh on anything that's slick at minimum if not 4wdl
I think the problem was you forgot to put the plow on it

Welp... You win some and you loose some.

i used to be the same way. Mind set was oh I have a jeep I can go through anything. well, I learned real quick thats not the case. And I learned the hard way in snow. If its wet and 2' deep. Going fast will just dig you in a hole and once your diffs are buried or up to your frame, you aint going anywhere.
Also tires and lifts play a big roll. In deep snow like that a M/T tire is going to work wonders. A/Ts seem to do better in light snow. Unless you have duratracs since they have a deeper more aggressive pattern. Airing down is key too. A wider tread print is always better in snow. Also bigger tires mean your diff is higher off the ground and less prone to burring its self. Same with lift. If the snow doesnt reach the frame you have a good chance of making it.
