Exactly, as in the face of the wheel is too flat and too close to the rim lip. AEV Pintlers are still a great looking wheel, but performance wise they just can't match the purpose build of a competition level beadlock. Which is what I need for the kind of wheeling my rig sees.

I run the spyderlocks and have had no issue with them. It's just a matter of preference. There are many beadlocks out there that are great. Hutchinsons and Trailready is good start.

I've got the AEV beadlocks and I haven't had any issues with them. There are things I don't like such as the lug nut opening is really small so you can't use an impact wrench unless you want to mess up the finish. The hardware that comes with them such as the bolts that hold the ring down are soft and easy to round out if you slightly over torque. I would agree with previous posts the wheel is a very capable wheel that works well for guys that wheel their daily drivers to and from the trail.

I wonder how the Hutchison's handle rock rash?

I'm thinking of AEV beadlocks, not for airing down but to protect the rim from rock rash.

There are not a lot of rims for a JK (hub centric) that have rock rings.

What about those new B.A.D. beadlocks?
They are DOT compliant and the locking mechanism requires zero maintenance.

That's a really interesting design. It looks like they're only offered in a 17" 8-lug right now. I hope they come out with a 5-on-5 soon.
