What are the best AT tires for fuel economy? I'd like to still have a semi-agresive look.

 

I ran Duratracs for a while as many others have. I am sure you will be getting a few questions concerning your post.

I don't know about being the "best" but I was in your position and went with the Mickey Thompson ATZ's. I've got about 10K on them now all is good. Very low tire whine at highway speed.

 

I run Both Toyo AT2's and BFG KO2's and both are quiet get good mpg and do well on and off road. here is the strange thing my toyos are 35x12.5-17 E rated and the BFG KO2 are 34x10.5-17 D rated both are smooth even tho everyone says not possible with an e rated tire. the other thing is mpg is exactly the same with the actual tire size set via procal odometer is 100% spot on per two gps'. Acceleration is much better however with the bfg's 14 with 4.10's and auto.

 

Appreciate all the input! I'm going to go to college about 6 hours alway next year and id rather not have to absolutely dread that drive every time I come home. And I really want to be able to take it off-road still when I can.

 

I have 6k on Aturo trail blade. Not sure if I spelled it right but they have been great so far. Good tread wear and all weather traction. Outer lugs do a good job in heavy mud and inner tread is quiet at highway speeds. Very satisfied. And they look good Sent using smoke signals

 

Just had a set of 33" Cooper Discoverer AT3s installed last week. Price point was right for me. Slightly less aggressive look than the DuraTracs but a stronger sidewall. Very quiet on the highway, basically no tire noise. Very smooth, slightly firmer than the OEM goodyears but thats to be expected as those are Passenger Tires. My highway MPG maybe dropped 1 MPG that I could tell on a trip i took this weekend.

 

About two weeks ago i got 285/75/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. They are pretty much an AT. They are louder than i thought they would be but not overbearing. Pretty heavy too. My average MPG has dropped from about 17.5 to 15.5 mixed highway and in town.

 

BFG K02 in 285/70/17 here, E rated, zero noise, smooth as a Caddy ride at 30-32psi, considering they're mounted in a rig with front/rear live axels ,
Dont know if they're good tires for fuel economy though, i've never seeing anybody concerned with MPG driving a Jeep, but for what's worth it, i get 350 miles consistently with 19 gallons of fuel after 2" lift, tires/wheels, and at least 400lbs of extra weight from bumpers/sliders/skids, this is still with the factory 3.21's.

 

That wheel/tire combo looks fantastic
