Best way to gain another inch or so
I have a 4dr X with 2" OME Medium Coils with 35" GY Kevlars and have no issues with rubbing since I have added TF bumpstops. I have noticed that the coils have settled some (maybe 1/2") since installing and I liked the slightly taller look better. I am thinking about 1" Daystar spacers, but figured I would see what others have done. I also added the Or-Fab tire carrier and the rear is about 1/2" lower then the front (when measured ground to fender).
Here is my question: Should I switch out for the HD coils or add some sort of coil spacer? Which would ride better? |
I also have the OrFab carrier. Between the larger tire and the weight of the full gas cans, I was sagging a bit and had a "reverse rake".
I popped some 1" TF coil spacers in the rear as well as some Rock Krawler wedges to straighten out the springs (you may not need wedges, my lift is quite a bit bigger) and now I think it looks just right. I have just a touch of forward rake, but not nearly as much as the stock rake that everyone complains about. When I put in the back seat and load up the Jeep it sits level. Coil spacers will give you that little boost to deal with sagging without changing the ride at all. But they don't add anything for suspension performance or articulation range. If it were me in your situation, I'd first try just some 1" spacers in the rear to lift up your sagging rear end. I think you'd probably be happy with the result. If not, you could always go on to heavier springs and sell the spacers here. It's a pretty inexpensive thing to try first, but like I said, I think you'd be happy with that. |

Haha, just playin, 1in coilspacers should do you just fine, as horwitz said.

If you go with spacers, check out the TF rears with the coil guide.

Thanks for the help. This is what I was thinking but have been trying to decide between the HD coils vs. the spacers.
